Live £1/£1 with J-J
It was coming to the end of my session and I hadn't been running too well but managed to so far have a profitable session. We were playing £1/£1 with a straddle and occasional re-straddle. I have around £110 in front of me.
I was UTG+1 so I restraddled to £4. The table was full with 10 players and was quite weak with a few players who normally play smaller stakes.
There are 5 limpers including the button, SB and BB when UTG raises to £28 and I look down at J-J.
My options here are to either flat and play according to the board. Assuming nobody has limped with a monster. Or I could shove over the top. I don’t think a standard 3 bet would suffice given I would be committing at least is £52.
I do decide to shove and it folds around to UTG who calls. The board bricks out as 10-6-2-2-8 and even though I tell him I have Jacks he insists I turn them over before he turns over K-K to scoop the pot.
Is there anything here that anybody would have done differently once he has raised pre-flop? If I flat pre-flop then I am more than likely getting it in on the flop anyway but should I just be flatting here? My thinking was that he could easily have A-X in this spot and seeing all the limpers, there is a good case to represent and raise fairly big to take down a healthy pot.
Any thoughts on how I could have played this differently?
