NL10: AQ BvB

Posted 7 years ago

Is this ok blind v blind? OTF the SPR is < 2, so I feel I'm going all the way with the hand. Which part should I have done differently, if any? No stats on the guy.

At 10nl I'm going to muck AQ read less to a 4bet over calling (even if it's BvB). Without any notes or reads, I don't expect regs to be getting too fancy here.

Their flop cbet pretty much screams "i'm not folding whatever you do" with the amount that is already invested.

I'd probably play the same pre but like @Harvie says there's definitely merit to just folding at 10nl.

On the flop I really don't like the raise. You're nearly never getting it in against worse by raising. Your hand also doesn't need any protection as the only bad overcard is a Kx which is 3 outs. If you continue with the hand I'd go with a call.

Depending on the villain/table dynamics I may or may not choose to defend with AQ vs. 4bet.

As played, once you see this flop you're not going anywhere, but you don't really need to raise on such a dry board texture especially since you're in position.

Even SB vs BTN at 10NL you can get away with never calling 4 bets OOP. The 3 bet is obviously standard in most cases, but as soon as you pick up a read that BTN is 4 betting you wide enough to start calling here, you're probably better off just switching to a polarised 3 bet range to keep things simple.

As played on the flop you're pretty much bluff catching against his value range so raising just pushes him off his bluffs. No need to play this way at all.
