Hand

The opponent is 42/16 over 28hands. We/'ve been fighting a couple of hands before, so I thought, maybe I should've checked the turn to induce bluffs?

You've played ok.
You don;t want to check turn and face a pot size beton the river...

What do you think about checking the flop? Should I do it sometimes? Whats the reasoning behind it?

I would check the turn to pot control and induce bluffs. He completed the SB preflop so SC's are decent part of his range. 67s improves on the turn and 45s has a pair + is now open ended. I don't think there's much value in trying to get called by 88-JJ as these hands would most likely raise PF. We're behind to Qx also so don't want to inflate the pot. FD's will most likely call one more time unless you're willing on putting in a big bet with 2nd pair. I think our hand is strong enough to check and let our opponent bluff the river with missed draws

I'd go a bit smaller on the flop. I would continue betting turn. From the looks of his stats (over a small sample) he has been raising pre which makes me think he'll have very few Qx when he limps. I wouldn't expect to see any AQ KQ QJ QT at least and that's a huge portion of the hands that could beat you on this flop and turn. It's also a spot where if I decide to check back turn then I want to commit to calling a lot of rivers but on many rivers I don't think I'd be comfortable doing that on this board. I would bet/fold the turn with the intention of checking back most rivers.

Pre: Sizing here looks good with the guy who posted his blind in the CO.

Flop: We can bet or we can check here, I don't mind either play. When we are betting it might be slightly too large as I would have expected villain to be folding a lot of his unimproved range to this size (obviously I a wrong with this assumption though)

Turn: When we get called on the flop I like following through with another bet here. We definitely want to charge his flush draws and if he has a lone Q I think it is unlikely he is going to be raising us here. Checking back to induce a bluff isn't horrible though but I think I prefer the bet.

River: Checking back here seems fine, getting three streets of value from worse here is going to be very difficult.

Overall a well played hand IMO.

I generally check this flop behind to give him the chance to bluff, we're never getting more than two streets of valuer against a worse hand. Of course against a limper with those stats betting flop and turn will be easily +EV, and it allows us to choose the bet size rather than allow him to bet small with his pairs

I would bet small on the flop and small on the turn because I'd prefer to bet with just one overcard, then I'd check back river because I'm a nit and it's getting a bit too thin for me now.
