Why did you raise? As a bluff or for value?

Calling is far superior to a raise as you may have the best hand and if behind have a redraw. The problem with raising the turn is they fold everything you beat and only carry on with hands better than 99.

Exactly what Harvie said. On the turn if you raise and get called then you've built the pot with a marginal hand and that's about it IMO.

Also preflop if you're gonna 3bet then make it about 12c-14c OOP otherwise you're giving any 2 a good price making his range a bit more difficult to define postflop.

I see, thanks for the insights guys. I made that bet on the turn since he looked like most likely doesn't have the flush and i also called on the flop which i tought made me look like I was waiting to hit my flush so a check raise straightned that idea even more. So like, if he had something like AJ, JJ, QQ, maybe KK he probably wouldn't have folded?

Well it fine if you're making that play because you really think he has one of those hands. But you then have to KNOW that you're purely doing it as a bluff and bet again if called and no more diamonds come as sometimes you'll be called by hand like AJ with A of diamonds. KK, QQ usually just wanna 4bet GII preflop etc so we can't really just put them on that. JJ wont fold ever.

So all I'm saying is that it's fine as long as you know you're doing it as a bluff and have a plan for the river on whatever cards come out.

I like the 3bet preflop, but make it bigger. Like 15c minimum. Going small just lets him continue really wide in position and that's not very favourable for you.

Flop seems ok.

Turn I'd like to get into why you think villain doesn't have a flush. What factors lead you to think that? I think it's a perfectly reasonable spot for him to have a flush with hands like any Ax of diamonds, KQ, KT, QT, 87. His bet sizes seem reasonable for a flush as well. It's also a spot where you might get him to fold some better hands but any hand like AJ KJ KK QQ with a diamond definitely aren't going anywhere. Sets should never be folding either. I think the hands you get to fold are stuff like a weak Jx with no diamond and stuff you're already ahead of so I'm not a fan of the raise.

@Komododragonjesus I see. So what I tought is that they usually tend to bet small when they have it but he made it like 75% i think which made me think like "Hmm he really wants me to fold so he probably has something good but not the nuts", and I am not sure if he would min raise preflop with things like KQ KT QT, 87 maybe. Now that i think of it, it seems pretty silly and i kind of agree with you guys, i will also keep in mind to 3bet bigger next time.
Thanks a lot :).

I much prefer calling preflop without knowing villain, and we're also getting a little deep. As played though, my standard is to make it 8bb versus amin raise open.

On the turn I don't think we get enough better hands to fold by raising. If you think villain is trying it on then you have a second pair bluff catcher you can call again with. But like KDJ says, it makes perfect sense for villain to have a ton of strong hands on this board so I'd probably just give it up myself.

@Turlock I see, ok I'll keep that in mind.
