Anon v fairly tight bit stack.

Happy to get this in most situations now, but versus bit stacks I find just shoving it at them works, rather than the 4bet/call stuff. I prefer shoving AK rather than calling off A-high v a shove, if that makes sense, even on this site it improves my fold equity preflop imo.

Anyway, is 4bet/call better than just shove over the 3bet when opponents have less than a stack? How far up the bb scale do I go before 4bet/call becomes the better move?

This is the deepest I've done it so far, but I always do it v 50bb or less.

Two things to remember for this site,
1. Fold equity preflop is very low in comparison to many other sites.
2. People don't fold to cbets, calling to hit as it were.

Thanks.

Shoves look more like AK so do it with AA KK, clicking 4b looks more like AA KK so do it with AK Yes

You are shoving here with ~ 63 bb eff. A lot of the hands he will have here AK has 42-45% ... people say it is a "flip" but it is not. Looking at his stack you need 44% assuming you are not folding. He needs to have some AQ / AJ / KQ here as well as some bluffs... if this is just QQ+ / AK+ / some JJ then it is likely not long term good.

44% I got roughly doing 63bb*2+1.5 = 127.5bb less rake

Then to call is 63-7 on the assumption we are not folding so roll the extra 4.5bb to call in then (63-7) / (127.5 - rake) = ~ 44%

Seeing 4 cards is good so shove > folding but depending how you tweak their ranges will determine whether it is good or not. There is no law "ye shall play AK" ... A guy who 3b 2% I bin AK like it is nothing 100 bb deep.

Why jam ? you want to at'least allow players the opportunity to come over the top with worse and you took that option away from him , i like making it around 22 bb and let them jam.

AK for me atm 100bb deep is a 4bet call or 3bet 5bet hand , but you need to have your ranges balanced correctly , if your 3betting 4betting to tight and using a wider value range it wont work out to well for you i dont think. Probably the only position i'm not doing it from is in the bb vs ep raises.

I think you're right about 50bb or less being an ok shove. Here a 4 bet is probably best though.

Fold equity might be low, but I would imagine he's stll folding some hands he might jam hoping that you fold.

@LFCchris No need to worry about balance until 100NL mate Laugh

Thank s a lot guys, very helpful.

I think my concern was them flatting my 4bet and me shiffing the flop, but no problem.

And ye, I've said before, balance down in the trenches is a beer in both hands.

Thanks again. Smile
