This was one of the more interesting hands that arose during my evening session today. We are readless at the table for the most part with very smal hand samples across the board.

Pre I feel is completely standard. Folding is out of the question and 3betting a MP raiser with 88 seems unnecessary.

Flop is one of the better flops for us that does not contain an 8, only 1 overcard to the board. When it is checked to us I feel we are going to have the best here reasonably often. I don't want to check it and give so many cards a free turn to draw out on us, plus people are very unlikely to get tricky with bluff raises when we are 4 handed so I expect players to play very honestly in general here.

We get a single caller going into the turn and the 9 pairs which reduces the amount of 9x combos that villain can have. All combos of 98s are blocked by the turn so it's only really hands like T9s that villain can hae that contain a 9. We cannot rule out flopped sets however which have now improved to fullhouses. The other likeliest hat villain can have here is the flush draw that has missed. We bet the turn and get called once more.

The black K peels off on the river and villain bombs into us for close to pot, pot is ~$10 at this point. Thoughts on river action?

Pre is fine, flop I like a bet, could even go a bit smaller like $1.5 but whatever. Turn I don't like the bet too much, only fd's are calling that are worse and he can still have a lot of suited 9x and slowplayed sets (FH now). River doesn't make much sense but readless I'm just folding, usually this is a strong line at the micros

I like pre and flop. Turn does seem thin and since he called flop 4 way I don't think you're getting many folds on the turn. 9x of course continues, so do sets and flush draws too vs your sizing. Your hand is medium strength here so I think keeping the pot small is pretty nice. If the river flushes out then he likely has no bluffs so you can choose to not put any more money and if the flush misses then you can bluffcatch in a smaller pot.

This river bet is ugly. I've made many calls like this and I'm pretty sure I've been shown the nuts every time so I recommend the fold button.

I think if you're going to bet the turn for protection you should make it very small maybe 25% pot. After all betting into three other players looks very strong and he still called, so I doubt you're getting many folds.

The benefits of betting are to protect your equity and to protect against him bluffing on the river if we check.We're never really getting any value. If he has a nutted hand and wants to get paid he has to do what he did or raise the turn and give the game away. Villain is unlikely to take this line as a bluff so it should be an easy fold.

I could get behind the idea of going for a very small turn bet in order to buy ourselves a free showdown, but I really don't like making an aggressive action on this card in general against even someone who's semi-competent. The main issue is the simple fact that we can't represent much when the top card pairs the board and while this might actually induce some -EV calls from the villain (that's why small bet for free showdown makes sense vs. weaker opponents) I don't think it's enough to justify a bet vs. most of the player population.

The idea here is that we should likely be betting twice, but the sizings we should be using will be less than half-pot in both cases. It looks like we bet over 50% on the flop. So probs 40% on flop, 30% on turn, check/back river, that kind of thing.

Btw, hand history format is horrible. Doesn't even have the pot-size on each street and takes way too long to read.
