NL5 AA in 3bet pot on super wet board

Posted 6 years ago

Button is probably fish but not seen him go nuts. We are slightly deep. Pre standard, could go bigger OOP actually, but its not crazy vs 3bb open. Flop is gold, bet smallish, but it is a 3bet pot so 50% I think keeps draws to a bad price, Ax in the hunt, and might get 2 pair or sets to raise.

Turn sucks, and starting to think pot control now, hoping for 3 small streets, not big turn then having to check or ship river.

River is the worst outside 8h. So check. What to do now, call it off as have underrepped hand, or accept that two calls then a big river bet is not worse value very often, and give it up. Would you have checked river?

I'm guess the advice will be bet bigger pre, bet flop and turn bigger, ship river. As it always is for me!

These days I play a bit different to the 'old' me, rightly or wrongly:

Preflop: I'd be 3betting that bigger because of bigger stacks, maybe to 12bb normally but deeper to 15bb.
Flop: not messing about, 15-16bb, if they want to play they will, if not we got our value preflop anyway.
Turn: overbet all in, easy game.

I'll probably get shot by the big guns but that''s how I do it.

In villain's position with say AJ, I'd fold the turn to a bet anyway. (nit alert Smile )

Fine play all the way. Just make sure to call river since he can easily VB worse hands here and i could see some bluffs like missed hearts and MAYBE turns an A into bluff, easy call from top of ur range.
