Part Poker $215 - JJ river bluff or not spot?

Posted 6 years ago

So this was very early on in the Party Poker multi Phase $215 buy in last Sunday, no current reads on the table.

Villain is likely very value heavy IMO so I would be giving him a very tight range of Ak+ for value and a few low std connectors or KQ AJ combos maybe, also I don't think we can discount some AQ but unlikely.

When he checks back flop I think he now only has value hands as most of his bluffs would likely make a 1/3 cb on the flop as well as his Qx combos to start getting value from my PPs. He can defo play AK AA KK this way with the flop ck back maybe even AQ if we give him that, as our range is likely pretty capped at PPS and AQs something like that.

Easy call on the turn given above info then to the river, now I'm pretty sure villain is only betting AA KK here, unlikely hes played ck bet bet with AK and also unlikely he has and Qx so the question is, is JJ too high up in our range to turn into a bluff?

We need some bluffs to blance when we have AQ 88 TT so should we just be using 99 or one of the other pairs we can have?

I felt like with stack sizes this was a spot I could apply some pressure with a river c/r and credibly rep strength the only problem I feel was my sizing, I should go way bigger and polarise maybe?

Size is good imo. Good spot to turn into a bluff in a vacum at least. He is capped and you can credible rep tons of hands played like this that beats AA.

Yeh I thought it was a nice spot given the stage of the tourney and our range.

We got looked up by Ks.

I think we have too much SDV to bluff. Turn brought BDFD and a couple of GSSD, so he can justify a river crying call thinking you called ott with one of those hands. I also think a Q would have led the turn. FWIW I would have bet turn and maybe even river for 1/3 psb or so, though I'm fine with hearing that's insane.

Speaking of insane, there's no way I'd call his range capped. He easily can have AQ, KQ, QQ, TT, smaller possibility of 88. Every one of those hands can check the flop, for different reasons.
