PLO 5b pot with $14 back into $80. Can I check fold flop?

Posted 7 years ago

Ok so mediocre AA in the SB to a small loose aggressive 3b vs someone opening quite tight. Initial raiser is 25/17 but this is after playing more hands with him, at the time of the hand he was looking a bit tighter. The 3b er is loose 87/44 33% 3b.

Now I could 4b here and just try to get it in vs the initial opener, but I think a lot of the time they (sysimets) are aware that Real is playing spashy and will 4b wide, so I can back 5b / 6b it in against a range significantly wider than other AAxx and work most of my stack in the middle pre in good shape. This is kind of what happens. Also if I 4b my hand is quite face up and I cannot get enough in pre that postflop will be an easy decision. They will call at least and stacks behind make it awkward, so I opted for the call of the 3b to back 5b / 6b.

The question primarily is can I be check folding this flop ever? Real connects here but he also has a reasonably wide range of hands which will put it in where me check folding will I think be a mistake. So I click it in and look away.

Thoughts please?

No, folding here getting this good a price seems absurd to me. You did your job, you got the majority of the money in when you were ahead. Trying to hero fold when you are getting such a good price seems lime it will be a long term losing proposition to me.

Lets say if the flop was slight different and it comes 689 instead. Do you think he is folding for the final $15? You are definitely going to be behind here vs 2 people a decent chunk of the time but the price you are being offered is just far too good to consider folding.

OK. Board is among nut worst flop textures I could l get. At what SPR in this spot would check folding be an option? I would think if I had ~ $45 behind and he covered me it starts to get into some territory where I am perhaps suppose to be looking to check fold. IDK. The above situation is rare due to preflop action, stack sizes, and the players involved, but it is common in 3b and 4b pots to have hands like this on boards like this and there is certainly a tipping point where check folding wins.

Oh don't get me wrong, it's obviously a bad board for us but when we are getting such an absurd price folding just is not an option. I'm not exactly a PLO expert so in terms of where we can start looking at folding I would not be the best person to ask by any stretch. Maybe someone else can chime in on this subject.

Give CO a range and see if you have 15% equity on that flop. It's that simple. Smile

So just did propokertools vs 33% and got this so just shove flop.

Interestingly from this and others it looks as though I can pretty much be shoving these flops 100% of the time and the AAQ4 with no backdoor flushdraws looks to be doing much much better than I had anticipated against % ranges in propokertools. We get snapped off dead some of the time but it looks like I can almost never actually consider playing this any other way than to pot flop even with 2x pot or so behind. I guess people have too many KKxx QQxx type hands for me to be folding or pair + draw etc.

Vs 100% we have 44.61% and vs 5% we have 49.83%. I am likely to be doing something wrong looking at raw % here.

I doubt he 3bets preflop with 33% range. If you have any information about his 3bet range, and the hands he has 3bet with, we can try to estimate something.

5% range in PPT is pretty much AA/KK so that's why you are flipping against it. 100% range has a ton of hands too that miss the board.

He was 3 betting a lot. Notice also in this spot it is not a pot sized 3b but a small one, which is something he was doing. The guy was very active and was running over the table. The 33% 3b is very very high, but it is reflective of how he was playing at the time.

33% looks like 2/6 or 3/9, which is a bit misleading. Always check the sample size on your hud, even if it's 5/15 it means he might have had 5 good hands, and his actual range is not 33%. But if its 57/173, then you can assume it's 33%.
