I Can Beat PLO!?! $1000 Betfair Bankroll Challenge

Posted 6 years agoEdited 6 years ago

Yoooooooooo

So pretty hyped for this as not played or done anything like this in the forum for a while but reading peoples journey's like @Grocker6 running up bankrolls it gave me that warm fuzzy feeling so here we are again!

Attached Image

So what's the challenge?

- $1000 starting bankroll on Betfair
- Play PLO.. starting out at 10c/20c
- See if I can win
- Get coaching along the way/release content
- Become the next Isildur1.

I have never grinded PLO before so this is all going to be very new to me nor have I really studied it! However with coaches on here posting hands and creating video content such as @Prostaker and @hedonhiney I am pretty much setup for this! Hope you guys come in and help...PLEASE.

Why Betfair?

Well their rake structure is decent enough but mainly because their promos are super solid!

If you want to sign up and play alongside me please do so Here

Sadly I don't get the bonus as my account is old but with that solid rakeback and our race plus the missions they create I should be able to carve out a healthy profit....I am also told that the games are REALLY soft and being a newb that is really important.

So $1000 = £780

Here we go!

Ooooo interesting! I've started playing Cash Omaha recently, mainly PLO10 but some PLO25, but is a fair jump, maybe I'd be better suited to PLO20 for now if that's available (as been playing on Stars)

Awesome, didn't think I'd see you end up grinding a PLO BR!

I'll be following!

What do you think of how the PLO field online has progressed in the last 10 compared to Hold'em?
Some say the field hasn't grown anywhere close to as strong as the Hold'em one. What are your thoughts on this?

@Grocker6 I would say I have not studied the field ever before but yeh it's had nowhere near the growth NLHE has had. It will never out shine NL but there is plenty of action and will be around forever.

@AshVIP Thanks!

If you're on Stars, do they not offer the 0.08 - 0.16c games? Or is that just for Hold'em? I've defo seen them for Zoom.

Games were just incredible and money was flying around everywhere! I knew it would be mad but this was just bloody insane. People fell for induces, got it in bad, spewed and just reacted terrible. I obv have no idea who the regs are yet but blimey if this is a sign of things to come then I am staying here forever!

Some interesting hands (please comment)

Hand 1:

I thought top 2 pair when he will be bet/folding and bet/calling draws was a good idea to get value/protect. Also I think worse 2 pairs can continue to call as I might play a combo this way?

Hand 2:

River was just a standard induce which I have done in NLHE for years. Never really fails to work and if you have watched my TonyBet vids you will see I print doing this time and time again.

Hand 3:

Standard?!?

Hand 4:

Calling pre is fine? Figured fast playing on these boards always gona be profitable vs over pairs and worse draws even ip?

Hand 5:

Should I ever fold here?

Hand 6:

I have no clue if this is good but I block top set, have the aces and it's draw heavy so YOLO?

Used my full timebank to slowroll this one.

Aww man, I've just watched some of JNandez stream, he crushes, and I've seen others crush. I'm ALWAYS SOOOOOO tempted but I steer clear until I've studied a lot more and intentionally play with a ton of buyins at a reasonable stake. That won't be for a while. It looks so fun though.

Hah with the slowroll.

Looking forward to more updates and some fun vids.

Who else out there just wants to see Jon make some fun time PLO vids. Just having fun and going with the flow?

Coool, this should be good. Really good to see how popular PLO is becoming. Networks like ipoker and Microgaming seem to have decent traffic for it these days!

It's kind of tilting me that your starting bankroll is in USD but your account is in GBP though. Laugh

Haha I was watching JNandez yesterday and couldn't believe how insanely easy he is crushing 20nl! I am on Ipoker at the moment so really tempted to jump in and join you on this one Smile

Again just pretty fun good games overall and I feel very comfortable even though my knowledge of the game is incredibly low...

Very intreresting! Gonna be fun to watch!

Looks like your basic understanding of the game will take you a long way. Things I take away from the hands you posted is flatting the SB with marginal hands is hard to make profitable (KQsTs3s). Rather play lots of 3bet and few flats to get the hand HU and not give BB a very good price to call.

Can also be a good idea to play some % of limps first in on the SB vs BB. So we dont have to call 3bet with bad hands and play OOP.

GL man!

@Prostaker yeh small blind i was feeling the leak and tightened up a bit in this recent session. Guess it's just so exciting to play 4 cards in any position Smile

Limping is something I have never done or believed in cash games wise....maybe I need to look into this more

Think this thread will help me on my own Omaha cash journey, may even join you on Betfair!
Posted 6 years ago
awesome Jon good luck but as @Prostaker says, blind play differs a fair bit from hold em

Loving your vids BTW @hedonhiney , watched the first two and have certainly helped me already! Will be getting positive reviews and comment soon Wink
