Jon-PokerVIP: GOOD LAD

Thank you, sir!

----

So, Day 1 of the Series is complete. A solid 13 hour grind! I managed to push a stack into Phase 2 on May 23rd with my second attempt (of a possible 9 in the package) and although I didn't get any cashes in the $27s, I did get around $18 in bounties in the PSKO. I also made a deep run in the Mini-Million to about 138th or something off package, so all-in-all a good start.

We have the $7.50-R (Event-07) today and then the package MTTs take a break until the 15th before a run finishing out the second week of the Series.

I have processed the refunds for the $77 in unused Phase 1 attempts and will be sending those now. It's going to be the only unused money most likely and is easier to simply get rid of it and then just pay out prizes at the end of the Series.

Shares:

Jon (10%) = $9.54
BarraBod (10%) = $9.54

And some off site investors will be paid as well.

Updates during Event-07 will be posted in here as usual.

Just reached the Add-On Break of Event 07. Chipped up quite a bit off our 10k double buy-in. Will be starting the freeze-out portion of the event with 46,244 @ 160/320/40. So an excellent start, I will skip the break update in 15 minutes barring something exceptional happening and update next at 03:55 PM EST.

Event 07; Busted in 241st.

Had to fold in a spot where I think I got turned and lost about 2/3 of my stack, stole the blinds next hand and then flopped two pair w/ KQ on AKQ board and ripped it in over a cbet, he had AQ.

Cashed for $74.40. My first Day 2 will have to wait I guess. So annoyed right now.

Back on the 15th for the next package tourneys.

----

Thanks for the kind words, I did a lot of study last night on the key hand that lead to me having to shove with KQ-two pair and I have concluded I made a poor bet on the turn, which if I hadn't made and simply check/folded, I would have been in a completely different spot two hands later with the KQ.

First off, know that I was probably playing the best I'd ever played. I was single tabling for a lot of it and was fully focused and picking up a lot of good spots... and that was good cause I was fairly card dead save for one double up midway through with QQ v. JJ.

A few hand examples of spots I picked up with either air or at best semi-bluff equity:

A9o BvB
89o Blind Defense
A8o Semi-Bluff Shove
J7s Blind Defense Semi-Bluff Shove

I was definitely feeling good about my table reads...

The hand I fucked up was a guy playing 32/24 over about 85 hands opened from HJ on my SB; he had me slightly covered and I was at about 670k. I 3bet w/ 69hh as he had 100% Fold to 3bet % and I hadn't been abusing him in anyway so far, so it seemed a good spot to re-pop. He tanked, and called. Flop came 6s3s8h, so actually not a terrible flop for me... I cbet round 45% pot... again, he tanked called... now here is where I should've check/folded on any turn that didn't improve my hand... turn was a 5s... just a horrible card, technically I pick up a straight draw, but with 3 spades on board, it's useless. If I check/fold here, I still have 440k+ at bb16k and am in fine shape with the long blind levels. But I tried to fire again about 165k and he fairly quickly shoved on me, forcing a fold with about 18bb left. Hence why after flatting pre with KQ and flopping 2 pair, I basically had to ship on the cbet. If I had been deeper, I'd have either mucked the KQ pre or played it slowly on the flop and lost minimum given the texture of the board.

Anyway, it's a good start to the Series and I'm very happy with how I played overall and I will learn from my mistake and play even better next deep run.

So I made another deep run in an off package $11 SCOOP event finishing 237th out of 18k or so, but still missed Day 2 by about an hour, so that was sad panda.

But I have two off package events today and then we get back on the package grind tomorrow with 2 x $27, 200k events! Updates will be in here on breaks and BOOM hands for bust outs (if needed).

See you guys tomorrow!
