His straight forward idiot proof approach has helped Jon climb the levels over the years and has also helped him in the live poker arena recently finalling the Irish Open & the UKIPT.  Jon's top tips on how to succeed in Poker:  Take time to learn the game. Make the most of our poker school resources.  Be part of our forum community. Being surrounded by players in your shoes and then also by members who have succeeded will help you with your growth and motivation for the game. Play lots! Volume is key! Always think before acting. 2 seconds extra thinking can turn a losing play into a winning one.  Work harder than the next person. Just like anything whoever works the hardest will achieve the most. Have fun. Playing long hours of poker everyday can take its toll. Make sure you keep some love for the game and enjoy your days off.

No ego, min raise BTN, don\'t get attached to your hand, and being on the BTN is the nuts.

Thanks Jon, I\'ve moved up from 2NL to 5NL and the min raises are working great now. I think at 2NL fish just call because you\'re literally just raising 2c and they want to see a flop.

So my advice would be at 2NL go to 2.5x or 3x but at 5NL this advice is solid.

We should only 3x if the bb is a fish and we want him to call. We risk 2bb to win 1.5bbs so it has to work such a small % of the time. Also if called then we are in position and a cbet gets the job done. If not we are still in position so have a huge advantage.

Thanks that means a lot! Glad to see you have picked up some plays. The more we are in position the easier poker comes and more money will be made. WIN WIN

Sure! Will make that happen.

Yeh any idea what your 3b% is on the BTN?

ZeeDeveel

I see the logic of min raising the button, but is it really better than 3x? I ask because I find when I min raise; my perception is that I get called considerably more frequently than when I 3x. Obviously each steal attempt is more costly, but since most people on just check/fold hands if they miss the flop, your flop c-bet is taking down a bigger pot than a min raised pot. I could be wrong of course, this is just a theory. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Great video, and very interesting to watch how you play in cash games... I\'ve learned a few things from this video, and now I can add these things to my game, which will get rid of the leaks I had in my game.
Overall I would play the same way, playing a lot in position and tightening up from earlier positions,
I learned from the video, so keep them coming!

A video where you don\'t fold a single 3bet in position would be cool. Playing 3bet pots in position is so incredibly profitable if you can do it right.

People underestimate the power of the flat call on the button preflop.

17:57 playing vs a mid stack out of position with AJ can be a tough spot. I prefer to 3bet or fold and vs as unknown i opted to fold.

18:45 YEP that is one hell of a missclick. No idea what happened there.
