'MikeRoss' came out on top during our staked player competition where the winner would receive a 1 hour masterclass on the topic of their choice with MingtheMerciless93. MikeRoss otherwise known as Olo chose the topic of good check raise spots including previous hand histories and general theory.

With over 10 years of experience, 100+ students and a regular Twitch.TV stream  Ming is the perfect coach for any player struggling with specific areas or just trying to improve their general approach to the game. This competition will be running each month and be open to both staked players and general forum members so stay tuned for these announcements over in the forum area.

I just wanted to say, that thanks to the coaching I didn't only improve x/r, but generally I changed how and what I think about poker. I would encourage everyone to pay attention to Ming's thought process, because there's tonnes and tonnes to learn on how to approach games and how to bring it to the next level. Thank you Ming!

I love check-raising hoes. The audio sounds just fine to me by the way.

The quality of this video is pretty terrible to be honest... Especially the sound. The content is nice though, but maybe its better to select some hands together with the coach (in this case Ming)...

You sounded quite nervous there Mike. But this video is great, as its something I need to work on also. I'll try find some hands where I've missed the check/raise opportunity and post them in the poker strategy section!

The problem with Check/raising on flops is it Caps your calling range which is exploitable by good opponents. I find the play is more useful on later streets. However, it is an effective play against people who use depolarized betting ranges on the flop. However, if you do use a a check/raising range on flops i would recommend you use a polarized range of 2 pair+plus and hands that retain there equity well on later streets like Gutshots.
