Check-raise

A check-raise is a move where a player firsts checks their hand only to raise it when another player decides to make a bet. The move is done to goad fellow players into betting, thereby increasing the pot size, before further upping the stakes.

e.g "Johny had the nuts, so he checked hoping a few people would bet. He was in luck! One player bet and another called, so Johny raised and eventually won a good pot. That's a check-raise done perfectly."
