Posted 8 years ago

The time is here when everyone thinks up things to do and improve on to make it an unforgettable year.

So it only seems right that we put them in this thread and see how when we do when we look back on it in 2017!!!

For me

1. Keep finding soft sites/value
2. Lose weight
3. Look after the family.
4. Find a new house.
5. Do something new < no idea what but try new experiences.
6. Grow VIP/180Vita sites.
7. Have a holiday and take no laptop.
8. GRIND MY GOD DAMN ARSE OFF.

Who's next?

I'm a believer in making a plan if we're gonna be serious about sticking to a resolution. I talk about meditation all the flippin' time, this year I've signed up for an 8-week course, starts mid Jan. The teachers say that in order to get much out of it, you have to commit to 30 min a day, every day, omg that sounds painful. But I'm hoping the course structure will get me over this hump.

Use tourney winnings to play more satty's to get into some big event. Use cash winnings to take the vacation I've been saying I'll take for 2 years.

I just hid my game controller, damn FPS games aren't nearly as stress-relieving as I think they are. If I was smart I'd just break it, but I can't convince myself the -$EV of the move would still be +emoEV.

Drink less I'm not even gonna list cuz I say it every year. I am sure you guys have NO IDEA what I'm referring to.

I think that is the only moment of the year when we are lying more than politicians!

I was thinking that instead of coming up with a load of stuff I will never stick to I would just aim to be in a more positive mind frame this year. The last 6 months I have been letting things get to me and over thinking everything, and just generally feeling a bit low and majorly stressed, so I think its time to sort myself out!

I came across this earlier actually and nearly cried with laughter, this is me in a nutshell, I could have wrote it myself I swear! I absolutely love the unmumsy mum, hilarious! Rolling on the floor laughing

Well... I'm gonna be a Dad for the first time in 2016 so my only poker goal is finding a way to continue playing and enjoying poker while I make the move into parenthood! It's a hobby for me so theres no pressure (poker not parenthood! lol). I just love the game so want to keep learning and playing...

2015 has been a tough year for me poker wise with results not being what I hoped but December came good and I have ended on an upswing and in profit for the year and I'm feeling more confident than ever with my game and am moving back up stakes and feeling positive for 2016

Good luck all!

Poker wise for me it's:
Move up and establish myself from 10nl to 25nl 6 max
Maintain a 30,000 - 50,000 hands a month volume schedule
Set small goals of improvement to my game each month and not take a shotgun approach to learning.

Ahhh a huge congrats to you! Just ignore the link I posted above, parenthood is nothing of the sort, just my warped sense of humor Wink

Best wishes of happiness and health to you and your little bubba, enjoy! Smile

Hello.

My goals are pretty standard.

1)Grow my business(away from poker)
2)Spend more time at home(currently 4 days a week)
3)Poker goals : become what's known as reg at NL20 (a move from NL10 but with correct BRM)
4)Work to achieve being a winning player before RB.
5)Play at least one major live tournament this year of 2016.

Some solid goals

Normally people put a lot of unrealistic stuff which will never be hit. Guess we have all learnt that lesson already!

Keep em coming gang.

Jared Tendler/Mental Game of Poker podcast did a great show titled, "Why you will not achieve your goals in 2016." It teaches us what are the biggest stumbling blocks we'll encounter, and how to (hopefully) overcome them.

My goals are:

1) Spend more time at the poker tables and become a serial grinder
2) Make more of an effort on the betting exchanges
3) Cook more (I want to move away from the basic stuff)

My problem in recent years has always been that I give myself far too many 'days off' from things like poker/betfair trading. I need to stop these extra FIFA sessions and afternoon power naps and concentrate more on achieving my goals.

Sounds like a bit of motivation or just a bit of a lifestyle change could really turn things round to you.

How many hours do you play per week on average now? How many would you like it to be?

I look after my twin boys full time so at the moment the only chance I get to do my own thing is their nap times. When they have afternoon nap (12-3) I try to divide my time between poker and trading the horse racing. They go to bed around 7.30pm and then I can concentrate fully on poker (whether it be grinding or studying).

Previously it has always been tempting to stick Fifa on for half hour (ends up being about 3 hours), so this year I've been determined to put the Xbox on the back burner and concentrate on the things that make me money....so far so good as the Xbox is currently gathering dust! 😊

Yeh for sure. It is always tempting to do the 'easier' things especially when it comes to relaxing and just pure enjoyment really. It is 10000000% more chilled to play Fifa or just watch TV and with your lifestyle looking after the kids i think i would probably find myself doing the same thing.

I have friends who have kids and i can't imagine being able to juggle it, be alert and WANT to grind. This is just due to how tired they are, they literally can't sit down or sleep for more than a few hours at a time as the kids wake up or need something.

I can't offer any advice tbh as its not something i have done but i will say to look at speed type games. Basically quicker to start a session, quicker to sit out and might work around your day to day.

I did have a dabble in the speed games and at first all seemed great but then I started losing so veered away from there fairly quickly. I would like to go back to speed games at some point because I was enjoying the fast pace and the fact that you can get through a lot of hands in a shorter space of time

I am really enjoying playing poker at the moment so have no issue spending my free time grinding the micro stakes rather than the usual watching tv, etc. Whilst I am enjoying it I intend to spend as much time at the tables as I can and if there is also money rolling in then that should keep me motivated to continue.
