How to play when or almost runnin' deep at mtt poker

Posted 7 years agoEdited 7 years ago

I have some issue with high blindlevels, I play then only the cards, the 10% of the starting hands, the players mostly steal my bb, when I call I checkfold on the flop, when I donkbet (after call on the bb) to steal the pot with lets say bottompair, they call, and then am I doing checkfold

On the high blindlevels, there are a some of critical moments, it can make you or brake you. Like this example

xx posts small blind $3,000.00, xx posts big blind $6,000.00. (ante 1k)

xx ($107,918.00)
xx ($105,384.00)
xx ($285,985.00)
xx($102,954.00)
Villan ($199,596.00)
xx ($265,333.00)
xx ($190,677.00)
Hero. ($432,251.00)
xx ($277,247.00)
PRE-FLOP;
xx folds, Hero raises $12,500.00, xx folds, xx folds, Villian raises $29,999.00, xx folds, xx folds, xx folds, xx folds, Hero . calls $17,499.00.
FLOP; [8D, 8H, JH]
Hero. checks, Villian bets $33,333.00, Hero. raises $66,666.00, Vilian raises $135,264.00 and is all-in,
Hero folds.
Showdown
Villian wins $211,330.00 from the main pot.

my question is how to be aggressive, which moments, is it always with cards to be aggressive? For me its easy with best cards before flop, but on the flop...some issues....

one more question, I was with a huge stack on position 10-15 with 160 players remaining and 234 places paid;

after a call of a 3bet shove from sb with 77 (I had K K), there was nothing to play with, gettin dealt trash cards, and when good cards there was a OR, my hand wasnt good enough to re-steal.
And flatcall? Like I said, they are critical moments, if I keep flatcallen with marginal hands, stack will decrease....

Would like to know how to play when in money, and deeprun, do I need to be tight or more aggressive?
Tight is easy, but aggressive is hard without good cards

Pretty impossible spot to say as we don't know the hands you have or why/who you are being aggressive vs plus quite often in tournaments you are going to have between 10-30 big blinds so aggression is often very limited.

Maybe post up some spots?

I had AKo, and that player does sometimes 3bet preflop. So I was thinking, probably fh JJJ88, or QQ KK, also could he have AQ

But the whole point is how to play when deep, or almost. Which factors do I have to check, more risk or tight?

My question wasn't really for spots but something like strategy, player types, position play (something like charts)

When the blinds are bigger and decent antes this is obviously when we need to up the aggression as there is a lot of dead money in the middle straight away. You will generally see the same people winning more pots (you can see this live by the players that have more lower denomination chips as it shows they are winning lots of the antes etc). I tend to open a wider range of hands then I do in the earlier stages of the tournament, and if an aggressive player is opening or 3-betting then you can raise and 4-bet lighter. I would say that 3-bet shoving with less than premium hands (small pockets, hands like J10suited) when we have less than 30BB can be more profitable than waiting for big hands or raise-folding.
