only a few hands against villain, TAG style, quite competent

Is bet folding here the better play or should I give up on the turn?

I play this hand the exact same way. If there was a brickier river and villain continues to barrel than I'd consider folding here as people would continue betting all overpairs, but on this runout with four to a straight villain is far less likely to be betting his TT+ hands and looking to take them to showdown so when he does bet again he's repping an extremely narrow range so I'm happy to make the call here.

As played the river call is fine, he doesn't have many 6x. I think I would be raising at some other point, either the 3bet preflop or the turn, like it's got wet and he's going to call with his draws (and especially here) so charge him to hit. If he has draws and misses, we can't make anything on the river, I would raise to like $1 or $1.10. It may even get him to shove which we're happy to snap off

For the record I wholeheartedly disagree with Ash on raising here at any point. Pre is whatever, I'm not entirely against that but flatting is better IMO but raising post flop seems like an absolute spew to me. Villain shouldn't have much 6x, and the only other draws we're up against will pretty much be overcards with flush draws. Villain can be barreling lower equity hands that at best have 6 outs once against us, and when we do raise we completely value own ourselves against overpairs, sets and get put in a really gross spot when villain DOES have the overs with flush draw if he decides to jam against us.

I get that, but I'm super happy with top set on the turn against ANY draws. If for example villain has something like 910hh, he's calling our turn raise (if not raising), if we flat and the river is a brick and he folds to a bet, we only win $0.44 when we could win for example $1 if we raise

Jesus Christ I must be tired. We have a set on the turn. I am actually an idiot.

100% raise this turn!!
