5NL - AK

Anon. Here's a spot that I don't know a good preflop line to take and how to plan this hand. If we hit on the flop, we're going for value. However, if we brick on the flop, should we stab? I should note that the 3Bet %'s at this stake are pretty tight, 4-5%. I'm looking for preflop line and postflop thoughts...

I'm happy to 4bet and get stacks in. Good amount of dead money in the pot and calling is out of the question OOP. Will be too hard to extract value if we do hit.

At these stakes I do agree that 3betting ranges are tighter, I'd only ever consider folding this hand pre flop if the BTN's 3bet was like 2%.

At many nitty micro full ring tables you can find a fold here, but 6 max CO opens and BTN 3 bets, we're happy to 4 bet and get it in.

Do you have your HUD pop ups set up to show 3 bet for each position and vs each position? The worse case is if UTG opens and the high jack 3 bets, mostly at these stakes you can expect to see a mega tight range here, and I would find a fold some % of the time.

But as Harvie said, don't think about calling OOP for a multiway pot, it's just too awkward to play.

What's the 4Bet sizing here, a jam?

I squeeze to $2 and do not fold. We block the strong hands, have solid equity vs pretty much everything and there is money in the pot to be won.

Cookie Monster: What's the 4Bet sizing here, a jam?

Jamming will be +EV but I'm sure it would be a more accurate play to 4 bet to around $1.30.

There's lot of differing opinions on 4 bet sizing, from a min 4 bet up to a full x3 the 3 bet. When I started back in 2005 people prefered the larger end, then everybody's bet sizes became smaller until in recent years. When people started calling 4 bets more they started making them bigger again, and I think I prefer a bigger sizing at the micros FWIW.
