Anon, this is just a

spot. Probably should've ISO'ed here, but it's the turn spot that I was confused and I might've leveled myself here. I've got 2 questions here, alternate and actual...

Alternate line:
I think if we ISO'ed and got a caller, we're betting flop and turn. If we get raised on the turn I guess we're okay getting the money in? He will sometimes show up with AQ, KQ that he decided to limp pre. He might fast play a turn FH, although he'd likely not over bet to try and get value. Spots like this with solid value hands but not TK are hard to navigate.

Actual line:
Based on his stack size, he could be a reg that's just over-betting with a huge hand to get max value from the weak players that would literally call with anything (the player pool here is full of that type) or he's a fish that just happened to run well and is going for max value here. Typically weaker players will bet pot or near-pot with made-vulnerable hands that they want folds.

I don't have much experience facing over-bets and had to post this hand. So facing this turn, what's going on here and what should be our line?

Id have to snap call this , i have a hard time putting him on AQ KQ and why on earth would he over bet jam with 55 22 when hes got the virtual nutts. He limped UTG so straight away i'm assuming hes poor and poor players can have all worse Qx they also make some pretty big and stupid mistakes like Jamming 66-JJ even something like A3c-A4c combo draw wouldn't surprise me to much.

If he has a really nutted hand betting 30 or 40 and hoping one or both of you call makes more sense then he can jam for around pot rather than an overbet. If i have a hand this strong and villain takes a line that makes no sense as a value line id call.

I'd just iso raise and vbet here.

As played... here's the thing, unless you have specific info that tells you otherwise (note/history/stats) don't call overbets from micro stakes players. Those ranges are never balanced and unless you're playing against a total maniac they are usually heavily unbalanced towards value (to the point that many players won't ever bluff with this sizing). It's not a good gameplan to bluff catch given what I wrote above especially because you have to be right very often to make this play +EV.

My bad , i thought UTG had shipped a short stack all in i didn't realize we were 180 bb deep with him , so that changes things drastically and makes it a fold i agree with matt above. If he had jammed a short stack though i sitck with a call.

He could limp KQ maybe, but also Q9s, QTs Q8s... anything really if he's a fish.
Again as said, why would he overbet a nutted hand here after 2 checks?
I think this just looks spaztastic to me, I'd have to call here and see what happens on river.
Provided he doesn't shove then all should be ok to call.

You can't base his the fact he has a big stack means he is a reg. I've seen lots of horrible maniac players run up a huge stack simply because they gamble so much and can get lucky and double up a couple of times. Anyone can get a big stack basically.

He could also have some random A3s and just try to overbet to get the pot. As silly as it looks, he could just think he's playing strong and pushing others around.

Just seems super fishy and I would never find a fold. You can also fill up with a 2,5,J on river and get max value from crazy bluffs. So think about the potential implied odds too if he's being wacky with nothing.

Yikes. I have a really hard time giving anonymous players enough credit to fold strong hands in many situations. That being said, on this board and in such a small pot on the turn, when villain overbets he's either completely nuts or just has the nuts. With no information telling me he's crazy I'd probably find a fold but I wouldn't really be happy about it.

Villain is a weak player imo. As for ranges without info it's too hard and we're looking at any two, which is why the iso would have made such a difference, a fish can limp/call very strong hands from utg and get busy with them. Things like AK/KK+ and l/rr is not uncommon, but so much rarer for a reg to do it, although possible as they're so deep I suppose if they are bad - or if they know there's a spewtard somewhere around.
Remember we also have

I'd call this and see what the rng gave me on the river and be chk/calling a fair amount, if he does have something like a slowplayed AA he might slow down a bit, might - and has a lovely $9 for us if we bink. Remember we've showed no aggression so far, so villain may feel justified in bashing chips out with an underpair or AK even, also a common play by weaker players at this limit.

I also think your alternate line should have been you actual line imo, which would have avoided this confusion a lot.
