Hey again, I made a thread about this type of scenario exactly in the Theory section so go check it out!
It's called '3 Bet Pots as the Aggressor'.

So this was the villain of the night again, and a fun fact! (to let you know what I was dealing with), this play bit the guy in the ass later when I adjusted and played AA the exact same way and check/called his ship on the river when he bluffed with 33 on a Q52T4 board. So we know this guy is very floaty, and looking for ANY weakness he can exploit.

Anyway, back to the hand.
I cbet the flop as I obviously rep it well.
The turn... if he called with a hand like TT, JJ or any pair he might float with, then we can just fold them out surely, this seems to be a double barrel we have to make right, or we just get run over?
On the river... yeah... I gave up and he ships. I hoped he'd check back and I could have a bit of showdown value with my TT.
What do you think?

The thing is... I actually found the session and having this guy around actually ridiculously fun! Loving working out player tendencies and dynamics and these tough spots actually are doing a lot for me back at the reg tables (as opposed to the anon).

Betting half pot flop and turn looks a bit weak. I would be looking at this and not folding 88. Would you be half potting KJ+? The Ts fills Kx / 9x spades T9 and QJ ...T9 QJ are less likely as you have QT though they are still possible hands he can have. It is wrong to go bet / bet / check fold if this is a standard line you take (IMO of course). You are building a pot only to give up on it when villain doesn't fold to a small second barrel. If I was taking a bet bet line here I would be making the bets slightly smaller on the flop and reasonably bigger on the turn and I would be shoving the river depending on stack depth and SPR. The only reason I would be betting smaller flop and turn is to allow for a bigger river shove.

As played I don't mind this line postflop at all, it's fairly standard stuff at nl10.

I would not be playing this preflop v this particular opponent because I don't fancy my chances of them folding any time soon either pre or postflop. Playing this way brings lots of problems, which ofc is fine if you're looking to improve in those areas and as you said, it's fun working it out.

I suppose another line you could take is to bet bet shove. Think that one is close but rather busy for me and leans more towards fighting fire with fire, again, fine sometimes to induce, but if I induce I'm calling lighter quite often.

So what conclusions did you come to playing this way versus this opponent?

Ap this is a typical regfish line at 10nl, the good ole double barrel 50% twice and give up. It is super exploitable and not a line that you should be taking.

Like Josh said a bigger turn bet is a must and ap I wouldn't mind shoving blocking kq kt TT and we will have bdfd that got there that we ship along with AK+

If villain is trying to outplay you then don't do this and just play tighter and let him make a huge mistake by calling down or bluffing v a strong nutted range.

@CrazyCookie Yeah, well when I was taking this line, as you can see, I didn't have many hands on the guy. It became more apparent as the night went on what he was about. Ok so if the double barrel half pot twice is 'regfish' then do you agree with what was previously said about betting smaller on flop and larger on turn in general if you are planning on taking this line? Or just generally bigger turn bet. Vs this player it seems it's not mattering too much, but I'm talking overall. Also as I said, I did adjust to this guy and took a chunk back later a few times with some strong hands that I let him bluff off. The things is now... will he adjust back?

I wouldn't worry too much about the whole adjusting game, play a way that isn't very exploitable and when he presents an opportunity to exploit him take it.

I don't mind about smaller flop sizing, means we get more calls so more folds OTT. But the turn size has to be bigger. If it was a single raise pot would you bet 50% oop here? Of course not!

Also villain could always just have AK KT TT or nut flush so you may be assuming villain is double float shoving as a bluff when he 100% isn't (or isn't doing it much!)

Nit picking but I still prefer a larger 3 bet OOP to 11bb vs a 3bb open

Flop is a good c bet and size

I don't like the turn barrel on this card. You have diamonds and a gut shot to barrel on, if you're firing on this card then you're probably firing too many turns overall. I also think you're being a bit optimistic at 10NL that villain will fold TT JJ for a second barrel.

As played I would expect him to have Kx almost every time as micro players don't turn showdown value into a bluff often at all.
