Float

Players may float a bet when they do not have a very good hand, but they intend to bluff their opponents later on. To be precise, a float is a call, not a raise, and usually takes place on the flop. Floating can work if you are up against an aggressive opponent who, nonetheless, has shown that he will lay down a hand if he believes he is beat. A float can backfire as well if your opponent has a strong hand is willing to stick it out with you.
