Pre-flop

Pre-flop is the period of a hand that takes place before the first three cards of the board (the flop) are laid out. This is when player first look at their starting hand and decide whether to play on, raise or fold.

e.g "Pocket 5's look good preflop, but I'd be inclined to fold if anyone bets since they might have a high Ace hand or higher pockets."
