Poker podcasts have been around for more than a decade. Every flavour you can possibly think of. If it relates to poker in some way, particularly if it helps a player get stronger then it’s probably out there. Basic strategy to advanced, mental game, and, of course, good old gossip.

We can’t spend all our day grinding or studying, especially if we’re on the move. So here’s a list of the most popular podcasts worth a listen in 2019.

TwoPlusTwo PokerCast

TwoPlusTwo is where many of us began our journey into the labyrinth of poker strategy. David Sklanksy and Mason Malmuth were writing material on how to gamble before many of us were even born. Of course, once the internet came around a podcast was a natural progression. Running since 2008 the show finally wrapped up last year, but there is still everything in the archive.

Interviews with names such as Tom” durrrr” Dwan and other well known players and coaches will help you to pass some time with much enjoyment.

Ante Up Magazine Podcast

Ante Up were the first poker podcast to launch all the way back in June 2005. Regularly banging out at least three or four episodes per month this is still one of the most popular shows today. They must be doing something right to have survived this long.

The hosts Chris Cosenza and Scott Long are just as happy discussing strategy as they are what has been happening on the high-stakes live tournament circuit. Each episode also includes segments such as ‘O’Mally’s Move‘, ‘Hand of the Week‘ and ‘Listener’s Spotlight‘. The final one being an invitation to listeners to actively participate in the show.

In 2007 the podcast was voted the winner of Bluff Magazine’s Readers Choice Award.

Daniel Negreanu’s Full Contact Poker Podcast

While not the most active podcast on the scene, there can be no denying that Daniel Negreanu has the ability to set tongues wagging. As PokerStars’ figurehead sponsored player he often finds himself being targeted for abuse.

This podcast though, is of a more relaxing tone with little to no controversy. There are chats with stars of the past such as Jennifer Harman and his good friend Jason Somerville and also reviews of events such as the Super High Roller Ball and PCA.

Just kick back with your feet up to get the best out of this one.

The Bernard Lee Podcast

After just missing out on a final table seat in the World Series of Poker Main Event 2005, Bernard Lee embarked on a new career in poker media. He still plays live tournaments today on a modest scale, and his first live cash - $400,000 from 2005 - is still his biggest score to date.

With his many connections the theme of his podcast is big names from the world of poker. His guests are generally North Americans including those well known player from the beginning of the poker boom.

To keep things mixed up there is a blend of strategy as well as poker news from the week included on the show.

No new episodes have been uploaded since September 2018, but there are more than 10 years worth of episodes in the archive.

Elliot Roe Mindset Advantage Podcast

This is a podcast with a difference, it’s all about how to get your mind into the right gear for peak performance. Elliot Roe is one of a breed that top players have begun to flock to, for want of a better phrase, sort their head out.

Every episode is presented with a top player discussing how they have transformed themselves into the player they are today. In depth review on the steps that were the most effective has created a gold mine of top-quality information for players struggling to make their next breakthrough.

The online reviews for this podcast are almost exclusively five star with zero criticism. Don’t miss out on this gem.

Jared Tendler’s Mental Game Podcast

The Mental Game Podcast is another show aimed at getting a player’s head straight. Jared Tendler is credited by many as starting this genre off in the poker world when he famously teamed up with Dusty Schmidt and transformed him completely. No longer was he going through several monitors each year after they had a nasty incident with a nearby wall.

Tendler’s book The Mental Game of Poker caused quite a stir back in 2011 when it was released. Players started to realise what had been missing from their game. This podcast, similar to Elliot Roe’s, is a treasure trove of information on achieving peak mindset. As well as dozens of top players sharing their thoughts, Tendler has also invited many famous names from the world of psychology including best selling authors.

Unfortunately, the podcast ceased back in 2016, but there are six years worth of episodes stored in the archive.

Jonathan Little’s Weekly Hand Podcast

This podcast is all about strategy and takes the form of a in-depth hand review each week. Some podcast listeners aren’t into gossip and tournament reviews and would rather get down to the nitty gritty. This show is perfect for that kind of player.

Although known as a top quality tournament player, Little is also adept at cash games too. The show features a mixture of hands from both disciplines.

There’s not many places where we can get free advice from such a player, and on a regular basis.
