Lets Sit N Go!

What's up everyone. I'm new here but not a newbie to poker.
I'll try to give you some background info.

I'm a Canadian uni student in my 20's with a part time job and I have played poker for a good 4 years now. I've played mainly on and off, never making much money but never losing much either. About a year ago I got very serious about sports betting and built myself a nice bankroll doing that. Since then I don't bet much but I've been able to use that roll to grind the games at my local casino.

In late February of this year I deposited 100 Canadian dollars, so around 70 euros, online to play some poker. Since that website (Bodog/Bovada) dosen't offer any rakeback, I ended up coming here to sign up to play on the MPN network. I've played so far at Betvictor and Stanjames and have grown my bankroll to over 300 euros, bellow is my graph on MPN.
Attached Image

My main game is HU sngs but I also play some 6 max sngs here and there. So far I've crushed the 2€ and 3€, currently I'm playing the 5€ games. I'll mainly use this thread to keep track of my various goals and keep myself accountable!
So far those goals are...

- Get a 5% or more ROI at the 5€ over at least 1000 games
- Play at least 400 sng every month.
- Lose 40 pounds
- Play over 10 hours of live poker every month

Am I the only one here playing sng's? Laugh

Best of luck everyone!

YOOOOOOOO

great work so far on the bankroll spin up and seems with that level of profit so far you must be a real crusher.

What are you currently studying?

Sup Jon

This month's been going great so far, getting closer taking a shot at the 10 euros level.
My $ graph shows how a few of my swings happened just when I moved up a level, I like this chip graph of most of my HU matches much more Wink

I'm studying archaeology, which really means that there isn't much for me here in Canada lol

Hope you guys are having a better june than I am poker wise. Running bad after moving up means that after rakeback and bonuses june has pretty much been breakeven. My EV is going up which is great, just a bit hard on my mental game, need to work on that. I'm taking the last few days of the month off from poker.

As for the other goals I had set for myself, I haven't been able to play live at all with my work schedule but the weight loss is going great, down about 5 pounds in the last month.

I have to decide between staying at StanJames or moving my roll elsewhere to get another deposit bonus. Any suggestions?
How's the sng traffic on Unibet?
Best of luck to all!

Hey @Ovi8fan Welcome to PokerVIP and nice graphs Smile

The SnGs on Unibet are pretty good yes and the games of course are soft so its a room I would recommend.

Some other good options open to you from Canada are...

Tonybet (Independent)

Betvictor (Microgaming)

Party and BWin (Party)

TigerGaming (Chico)

If you need any assistance at all getting a new account tagged, feel free to PM me or add me on Skype for a chat Keri.PokerVIP - Best of luck! Smile

Alright, I've went with Unibet and I do like it so far. The software isn't bad I just wish there was a better hand replayer, something to clearly see the action of the last hand you know? Also a VIP system that would give me more money and less avatars would be nice.

I'm more of a regular speed HU sng player and the ones offered at Unibet are a slightly deeper and slower version of hyper turbos. Because of that I'm using a pretty conservative 80 buy-ins rule before moving up. Its almost overkill but I like having a bigger roll so I dont have to think about the variance.

I transferred my roll and did some grinding at the 2€ to work on my play for about a week. After that I had enough to take a shot at the 4€. I haven't been running too hot but the bankroll keeps growing slowly. Faster games also means I'm able to put in more volume and it seems I'm able to get games at any time of the day which I find great.

I've had a pretty packed schedule at my job, can't wait for summer to end so I dont have to work night shifts anymore. I'm down about 2 pounds since my last update, so about 6 pounds since early June and I'm pretty happy about that. Overall things are going great Smile

Hope you guys are running good.. just not against me Cheeky

Unibet's been going great so far. I think I've successfully moved up to the 4 euros level.
Its been harder to track my games but I've made myself a folder in Open Office to get some graphs. It really helps me to play my best and not worry about variance when I dont see a graph of every game. I've been running decent overall, winning about 55.65% of my games

This shows my roll over the days in which I've played. A few hundred games played so far this month.

I'll also try to really clean my diet up this week. Bought enough stuff just need to divide it so all my meal prep is done for the rest of the week.
Lets do this!

I used to love UniBet when I payed on there. Games a VERY soft and I enjoyed the software + the tickets you win along the way with the random challenges! The hand histories is obviously annoying. It seems you have to sacrifice that for softer games these days. Do you play cash or is it strictly SnG?

GL on your journey!

Thank you!

I've played about 20 hands of cash so far for some challenges. In close to 300 SnG I've yet to play against a player comparable to those on MPN on the same stakes. It really feels like playing live poker.

Still doing great at Unibet. With good volume I've managed to get 56/100 in the latest sng battle promotion for an extra 5 euros which is awesome as I played games with a low points multiplayer.
Here's the graph of the days I've played so far, moved to the 4 euros after the 8th day. Also a slight winner in the very few cash hands I played for tickets.

Already more than halfway through the summer before it's time to go back to uni. I now have had the same job for over a year but I'm thinking of quitting at the end of august. I'm mostly working overnight shifts and I was miserable last year doing this while also going to school. My plan was to make enough $$ to last until next summer and I think I've got that covered. On a related note I'm thinking of pulling the plug on my live poker roll and just use that money to quit sooner.

Hopefully everything works out well! Best of luck to everyone

Here's my July recap, overall a pretty good month. I played a total of 606 Head up sng this month. Since the format on Unibet is very fast I'll need to put in more volume to be less affected my short term variance but with my workload at my job I'm happy with my volume.
The last part of the month ended up being pretty much breakeven. I've started to record myself play to analyse later. I've got a few more hours to go through but I feel that most of this tougher stretch happened when I made mostly good decisions but faced the top of an opponent's range or lost some important 55-45 flips. Overall happy with how I handled things.
Here's a graph of the month, I basically missed one day where I didn't play. This is a bit misleading though because if I start a session during the afternoon at my time, it very often stretch over 2 days Unibet time.

Here's to a great august! Best of luck to you guys too

August has been a weird month so far. I did give my resignation to my job, I've made enough to take the next semesters to mainly focus on school rather than work nights while going to class. August will be my last month working there so they gave me lots of hours while we do the training of the newer guys.

This means my poker hasn't been what I'd like it to be. I've been running decent but between working and sleeping, I've only played about 90 games so far this month. I'll try to get at least a hundred games in next week.
As far as my weight goes, it has been pretty stable lately. I'll try to plan my diet better in the coming days. Pretty eager to go back to the uni gym when I finally have time to do stuff during the day!

Overall I'm doing great, I've got a ROI of just over 6% so far on Unibet in around 700 games. If I can keep it in the same ballpark, I'll probably be able to take a shot at the 10 euros stake somewhere in September or October. Smile

Will you miss your job?

How much time per week does school require?
Posted 7 years ago
I'm thinking around 20h per week for school overall. I've got 12h of class, so a bit more with studying and just the transport to/from uni.
Plenty of time left to make some profit playing poker and betting on sports.

I'll miss my coworkers, but not the job itself. Working night shift is killing me. I feel like I miss the best part of every day because I'm always sleeping from 8 am to 15 or 16 pm.

August has been a disappointing month so far in terms of volume. I'd like to put in more but some days I'm just so tired I don't feel like playing my D game.
Profit wise apart from one day the month has been pretty good, here's a graph of it. Attached Image

It has been my biggest one day swing so far in this journey, about 15 buy ins. I know this is to be expected but it wasn't easy to handle mentally.
I'm mainly trying to focus on doing the best possible play. I feel like anything around 55% when going all in is such a big edge that I can't pass it, but this means that swings like this will happen. With my roll now over 100 buy ins for the games I'm playing I'm not going broke, just have to play through the rougher patches.

Hopefully next week is smoother!
Posted 7 years ago
I haven't been playing much poker lately, but what I've played has been such a drain. I have now lost 24 buy ins over the last 103 games since this swing started. As much as I like playing poker and as much as I understand that runs like this are bound to happen, this is really making it hard to have motivation to put in volume. It feels like I can't manage to win over 40% of my games anytime I try to play over 10 games in a day.

I'll review what I have recorded of my play but it seems like most of this is the result of running fairly bad in all ins where I'm a slight favorite.
This is what my overall graph on Unibet looks like, hopefully soon enough this will only look like a small bump in the road! Attached Image

August was overall a pretty disappointing month for me. I really wish I had been able to put in more volume. I had so much stuff do to at work that I wasn't able to keep last month's pace. Hopefully I can make up for it in September as my schedule should be easier to work with. Overall, this is what the month looks like:

I made a total of 2.5 euros this month. I feel like if anything, this helped me work of some of my mental game issues and hopefully the results will show. Here's to a better September! Wink

September is going great so far. No more work means I have been able to sleep during the nights for the first time since last June. Uni started but I've also had more time for poker. My overall graph that I posted in my last update looks much better now
Attached Image

I've also had much more time to go to the gym and keep a closer watch on my nutrition. Hopefully this pays off at some point too Smile
I'll try to put in more volume in the next weeks to get as much rewards as I can before the unibet points start over.
Best of luck to all of you guys!

Nice thread, what's that program you're using for Unibet result's tracking? You do it manually?

Btw, here's some free SNG vids from Ben789 (he topped Sharkscope in 2015 for SNGs across all stakes): LINK

Good luck with your journey!

Thanks! I'll check out the videos. I mostly play heads up on Unibet because their other sng are 5 seats and I don't know much about the format.

I made a spreadsheet using OpenOffice. I found out that I can see the number of games played every day in my account information, I just input that in my spreadsheet. Sounds silly but I like knowing my win %
