Hero call

This is a poker slang term and refers to when a player makes a call that is based on gut moreso than read. It is usually used when the call being made is risky, at best. When you are playing against an opponent who makes a big bet on the turn or the river and something tells you he or she is bluffing and you make the call, you are making the hero call.
