Pot odds

Ratio between the money already in the pot and the amount of money you have to pay in order to stay in the pot. If there is $20 in the pot and your opponent bets $5, the total is now $25. You have to pay $5 into $25, or 5:1.

In combination with odds and outs, pot odds are used to come up with the right and profitable decisions at the tables.
